Apple’s chipsets are nearly ready for production

Apple is getting ready for chipset production for the iphone 5, ipad 3, and the macbook air. According to website China Economic News, Apple has begun to finalize the technical specs and certification process on the chipsets.  According to the website, China will have their manufactures start production by the end of August.

These chipset orders are directly from Apple as well as Qualcomm, Apple’s major supplier of handset IC chips.  Qualcomm could then be expected to sub out some of its orders to the likes of Taiwan SemiConductor Manufacturing and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering starting in August or September.

In terms of iPad 3 excitement, the article goes on to state that Chipbond Technology is believed to be receving orders from Apple’s LCD supplier from Japan.  Also Texas Instruments is sending orders to Ardentek Corp, to deal with the power management IC.

Though we may be heading toward our next recession in 3 years, these taiwan manufacturers are positioned to do well as long as Apple remains their customer.  We hope that the European debt and US political budget contagion does not affect Apple’s production.
